The Jerra Journey

Year 6: Transition to

The Jerra Journey starts in Year 6. Students will develop an understanding of the curriculum design at Jerrabomberra High School. It is also where we start to get to know the students, we will work alongside over the course of their studies at JHS.

Year 7: World of Discovery

Students will develop a broad understanding of career and tertiary pathways. They will develop an understanding of how education fits in preparing them for these pathways. Students will develop a broad sense/understanding of skills for success and will reflect on the skills they have, and those they would like to explore and further develop while at school.

Year 8: Real World Connections

Students dive deeper into the world of work. They explore Career Clusters in the Australian workforce (Makers, Informers, Guardians, Coordinators, Linkers and Innovators). They explore which skills they have within these clusters and career opportunities that align.

Year 9: Imagined Futures

Students will explore the skills and attributes required to be successful in a 21st-century workforce. We expand student choice and focus on appropriate curriculum choices that hone students' interests and passions and develop the non-cognitive skills that are relevant to a global employment marketplace

Year 10: Gateways to the Future

Students will fine-tune their plans for their future. Consolidation of skills both cognitive and non-cognitive will drive their subject and pathway choices for Stage 6. Students will develop a more astute understanding of what is required to accomplish success in their given pathway and will explore the post-school options that are required to transition into these pathways.

Year 11: Global Skills and Pathways

Students will be able to analyse and reflect on their strengths and weaknesses and how this will impact their projected future selves. Students will be supported in finding suitable pathways be it academic or vocational. Their skills for success will be framed around the areas of interest and passion they have built over the previous four years of schooling. Students at this stage are ultimately aiming at graduating and transitioning into work or further education or will be preparing for their final year of school with a focus on an academic pathway.

Year 12: Academic Best

Students will be focused on the skills necessary to be successful in their HSC Studies and for their transition to further education. They will develop a sense of confidence around their transition to university, as well as a deeper preparedness about their HSC and subject-specific content.

Year 13: Navigate Your Journey

Students will take the skills and knowledge they have learned during their time at Jerrabomberra High School and use these to navigate their futures inside one of the six Career Cluster pathways.
